We are looking for a proactive person to join our team in Bedford as a Planner.

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, with extensive knowledge of the production environment.

The Planner is responsible for ensuring that all orders are planned effectively to maximise capacity across all production suites. Ensure all line speeds and headcounts are planned correctly and monitored against targets.

This role will be based from our Bedford Office.

Hours of work: Monday-Thursday, 8:30am to 5pm and Fridays 8:30am-2pm

Role Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare production schedules for all production suites.
  • Host daily, weekly planning meetings and take ownership for forwarding preparation of these meetings.
  • Regenerate collaboration meetings to extend to further internal stakeholders for plan buy-in
  • Generate short term fixed plan and long-term forecast plan for internal review and sign off prior to the wider publicised audience
  • Owning the demand and forecast planning process across all customers and variants.
  • Ensure machine and line speeds are being set correctly by production management across all shifts and communicated upstream when line speeds are amended to ensure costing models are correct.
  • Daily plan review and changes based on immediate changes whilst considering commercial and financial implications.
  • Liaise with Customer Services to ensure the plan is full to capacity and report where necessary when capacity is not reached considering customer promised dates and planned production dates.
  • Produce daily values as a measure of performance and display daily KPIs in production.
  • Agree on inventory levels held with key stakeholders prior to planning production so no overstock products are held.
  • Creates master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet sales forecasts and customer orders.
  • Analyse production capacity and performs calculations to determine true process time and resource required.
  • Daily updates with production management to determine the status of assigned jobs.
  • Prepares production planning monthly reports showing the accuracy of the plan, Units, Value, requested completion date all tracked and monitored.
  • Process flow between departments is carried out efficiently ensuring there are no divides between cross-functioning departments.
  • Optimising production efficiencies across planning schedules
  • Identifying opportunities for process change, communicating these ideas, and implementing them effectively.
  • Trend and performance analysis of manufacturing suites
  • Manage the department attendance through holiday control and absence management, ensuring all administrative work is carried out in a timely manner.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced Excel/Office packages
  • Educated to degree level relevant to Supply Chain / Planning functions
  • Extensive knowledge of the production environment 5 years plus
  • Excellent communication skills
