Warehouse Manager

Primary Objectives:

Ensure the Haverhill warehouse operates at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by supervising, organising, directing, and training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operation goals.
Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilisation, inventory management, and despatches.
Train and manage a warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.
Oversee daily operations, while controlling and managing inventory and logistics.
Review and prepare workflow, manning and space requirements, equipment layout, and action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and customer service standards are met.
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Develop the storage and distribution function in line with the company strategy.
Support the business in its drive for world-class working closely with the warehouse team and direct line managers to complete all key initiatives.
Drive business growth by increasing the capacity and service offerings in warehousing.

Reporting to: Head of Supply Chain

Role Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service
  • Schedule and oversee warehouse team to meet the demands of the production department, and manage flow and quality of work to maximise efficiency and minimise overtime
  • Meet regularly with warehouse leads to review, analyse, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention
  • Make sure all goods delivered are labelled and stored (as per current SOP)
  • Ensure all goods are checked and recorded (as per current SOP)
  • Ensure the proper control of goods and stock in the warehouse (as per current SOP)
  • Control the movement of all goods between production, warehouse, and secondary sites (as per current SOP)
  • Control and develop the Rootstock system in the warehouse ensuring all issues are investigated
  • Ensure the correct shipment of goods out from Central Pharma (as per current SOP)
  • Ensure that all trucks/vehicles used are inspected as per their inspection schedule and free from defect and fit for use. (E.g. LOLER Inspections, vehicle MOTs/servicing)
  • Ensure that forklift checks are carried out daily
  • Keep stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate
  • Ensure consumables orders are processed through the Procurement Manager, whilst maintaining correct stock levels
  • Responsible for front of house activities good in/ goods out
  • Assist the Finance department to carry out their weekly cycle stock counts for relevant sites.
  • Ensure data loggers are programmed for dispatch (various customers)
  • Report any defects/faults concerning racking or lifting equipment and liaise with suppliers as required
  • Maintain contact with Production and Quality as necessary to assist in the effective movement of work through production.
  • Generate warehouse/ logistics KPI reporting metrics when required
  • Provide accurate end of month data, and produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Train others as part of your role to ensure effective leadership continues when you are not available
  • Organise the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance        and progress in the form of 1-2-1s
  • Motivate, organise, and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
  • Managing budgets
  • Maintain the physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts as and when required
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation
  • Ensure cGWP is observed throughout the warehouse function.
  • Manage all health and safety requirement within the warehouse, including annual racking inspections.

Skills & Competencies:

 Forklift truck licence

  • C1 driving licence
  • Good numeracy and IT skills
  • People management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and motivate
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong understanding of the stock control systems
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically

  • Knowledge of the legal requirements of operating a warehouse


The Warehouse Manager has strong working relationships with all key internal departments throughout the supply chain process.
