Summary
The Assistant Buyer is responsible for placing and managing purchase orders, developing, and managing supplier’s performance expectations and objectives. Identifying and resolving problems and functioning as a decision maker for orders and issues of larger complex scope. Position includes managing inventory to meet objectives, negotiating need and requirements and prioritizing purchase order schedules.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage purchase order life cycle through process reporting metrics placing/confirming purchase orders, managing of schedules, and ensuring material is received into stock
- Support and lead the development and execution on planning strategies based on reorder points min/max inventory material requirements planning, lot sizing policies and defined supply strategies to meet forecast, inventory, and customer satisfaction objectives
- Maintain purchase order accuracy (quantities, pricing, ship dates, delivery dates, payment terms) and system data accuracy (lead times) to enable the effectiveness of Central Pharma systems and processes
Contribute to daily communication on status and resolution of back-order items - Manage performance of suppliers communicating expectations, metrics, and supporting/leading performance and continuous improvement effort or minimize total cost of ownership
- Address product quality and supplier performance issues through non-conforming material review in conjunction with quality, corrective and preventative actions followed up and process driven continuous improvement.
- Support the selection and set up of new suppliers and the systems and processes to monitor of their performance
- Proactively identifies risk and issues and effectively executes risk mitigation strategies
- Manage performance of suppliers communicating expectations supporting/leading supplier performance reviews
- Participate and lead meetings with suppliers to discuss all aspects of their business and develop effective relationships
- Participate in supplier visits/ evaluations as requested to determine suitability
- Support new product launches through supplier management and planning for inventory
- Ensure system, processes, strategies, plans and policies of the company are followed and leveraged for effectiveness and efficiency
- Work effectively with other departments that supports the supply chain and operations at Central Pharma
- Maintain a positive can-do attitude and actively contribute towards the growth and success of Central Pharma.

Skills & Competencies
- Preferred 2 years or more relevant work experience
- Proficient with ERP/MRP system and MS office applications
- Ability to identify risk and solve complex problems and establish sustainable process improvements
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Organised and detail orientated
- Some travel may be required.
